HP EliteBook 2740p review. First multitouch-enabled tablet

HP have announced the EliteBook 2740p, its first multitouch-enabled tablet for business users as well as notebook PCs tailored for both enterprise and small and midsize businesses. “The HP business touch tablet is the latest addition to the broad mix of choices that HP offers business customers to best improve manageability, productivity and mobility,” said Dan Forlenza, vice president, Business Notebooks, Personal Systems Group, HP. The Elitebook 2740p is HP’s latest convertible Tablet PC for business users. The 2740p is the first HP business tablet to come with a multi-touch display, making it easier to use when in slate mode and will come with powerful Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors.

While the new Intel Core i5 and i7 processors are more powerful, they won’t be as energy efficient, that the 2740p will be more than powerful enough for most business users.

Previous HP business tablets LV(used low-voltage) or ULV (ultra-low-voltage) processors to maximize battery life. The HP EliteBook 2740p offers a variety of battery solutions for lightweight configurations, including a six-cell li-ion prismatic battery, which provides up to 5 hours of uptime

The EliteBook 2740p have 12.1-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) LED display includes anti-glare and optional outdoor view, and can be operated with a pen, your finger, the keyboard, or some combination thereof. The HP 2740p meets the MIL-STD 810G military-standards for vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high and low temperatures. At a starting weight of 3.8 pounds, The HP 2740p also includes a 2MP web camera and microphone, stereo speakers, a spill-resistant keyboard, dual pointing devices (touchpad with scroll zone and pointstick), 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, the optional HP un2420 EV-DO/HSPA mobile broadband module, Ethernet LAN, a 56k modem, three USB ports, ExpressCard and Secure Digital slots, Firewire and a VGA port.
