HP Japan has today introduced a new AMD-based portable PC to its line-up, the Pavilion DM1a wannabe ultra-thin notebook that is based on the Nile platform. The Nile platform, for one, is composed of chips aimed at ultra-thin machines and appears to have gained the attention of even the largest worldwide PC supplier.

HP Pavilion DM1a very much like the model HP Pavilion DM1. the HP Pavilion DM1a laptop is likely to carry a different name if and when it’s released in other countries.

The HP DM1a notebook comes with single-core chip AMD Athlon II Neo K125 with a frequency of 1.7 GHz and enough graphics performance ATI Radeon HD 4225 and 2 GB of RAM . Options drive includes a hard drive to 250 GB with rotational speed 7200 rpm or SSD capacity of 128 GB.  It has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a webcam camera, a 5-in-1 card reader, Altec Lansing speakers, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, three USB 2.0 ports plus a VGA video output, an HDMI port, a 6-cell battery up to 6.5 hours, and either a 250GB, 7200RPM hard drive or a 128GB solid state disk. The HP Pavilion dm1a has dimensions of 290×205×20.5-32 mm and weights 1.5kg.

Pavilion DM1aThe Pavilion dm1a comes pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 home premium 64bit operating system. It is already selling in Japan, for roughly $874. It starts going on sale from June 17 for the standard model.
