Hewlett-Packard ( HP ) will soon release a notebook called HP EliteBook 2540p which is the lightest EliteBook Series. It come with Intel Core i5/ intel Core i7 processor and 250GB/500GB of hard drive. Now you can have the choice of latest Intel Core processors in either standard voltage for better performances, or stick with the low voltage, a standard for the HP ultra portable notebooks. The durable HP EliteBook 2540p is HP’s smallest and lightest EliteBook, designed for maximum portability and uncompromised performance.

The HP EliteBook 2540p is built around a 12.1-inch 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, and has an optional 2-megapixel webcam, fingerprint scanner and Gobi EVDO/HSPA integrated 3G. Other connectivity includes a handful of USB 2.0 ports, VGA, gigabit ethernet, ExpressCard/34, a memory card reader and audio in/out, while wireless ranges from standard WiFi b/g through optional a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. The HP Elite 2540p features a spill-resistant keyboard, and multiple li-ion battery options 3-cell (4 hours), 6-cell (8.5 hours), 9-cell (12.5 hours).

This HP 2540 comes with Windows 7 or a downgrade to XP, the 2540p also comes with HP’s QuickLook 3 software. Similar to the Express Gate found on Asus laptops, QuickLook 3 allows you to read/write email and access you calendars and contacts without booting into Windows. QuickWeb, which allows Windows-less Web browsing, is separate but also installed. Also, for all you Linux fans out there, HP offers official drivers for the 2540p if you’re using SUSE Desktop 10. The HP EliteBook 2540p is designed to meet tough military standards (MIL-STD 810G) for vibration, dust, humidity, altitude and high temperature. The HP EliteBook 2540p will be available in April, pricing starts at $1,099.
