Lenovo has Confirmed to launched ultra-thin laptops called Lenovo IdeaPad U160. This device is Lenovo’s sequel to the Lenovo IdeaPad U150. The IdeaPad U160 is designed to fill the niche between a low-powered netbook and a full pledged laptop or desktop PC.
There are two models up in this series. The lower end model IdeaPad U160 08945JU with an Intel Core i5-520UM processor (1.06GHz), 320GB HDD and Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. The higher end model IdeaPad U160 089455U has an Intel Core i7-640UM (1.2GHz) processor, 500GB HDD and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Lenovo IdeaPad U160 comes with 11.6 inch glare display has a resolution of 1366×768-pixels, 4GB of DDR3 memory, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth, HDMI, three USB ports, card reader, 2.9 pounds, optional external DVD burner, 5-in-1 memory card reader, a multi-touch touchpad, and 1.3MP webcam. Battery life should be good for 3.5 hours on the 3-cell battery or 7 hours using the 6-cell.
That’s not bad for notebooks under an inch thin and less than 3lbs in weight, and just in case you drop them Lenovo have added automatic hard-drive protection. The Ideapad U160 lasted just 3 hours 10 mins playing back a video at 65% brightness. They were also unimpressed with the keyboard and trackpad in this macine, saying it was crapped, and didn’t make full use of the space available on the 11.6-inch body.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U160 appears to be an ideal travel companion that combines great technology, great features and amazing specs in one ultra portable package. The Ideapad U160 comes also preloaded with some of Lenovo’s utilities software like Smile Dock, Weatherbug and etc. The Lenovo IdeaPad U160 08945JU is $1,049 while the Lenovo IdeaPad U160 089455U is $1,149.
