Cody Lundin is a Dual survival expert and author of two books focusing primarily on survival topics. Cody love of all things self-reliant began as a child with the influence of his grandparents. He is currently a co-star of the Discovery Channel series Dual Survival along with Dave Canterbury. The show is all about rising to the occasion in the challenging environment.
The only child of a military family, he moved frequently, including time spent in Europe. During these years of migration, with no formal base to call home, Nature became Cody’s constant companion, whether in the neighboring woods or the back yard. Cody takes a survival approach based on being as close to Mother Nature as possible, going the last 20 years without wearing shoes or full length pants.
Cody Lundin is paired with Army-trained survival expert Dave Canterbury (who wears modern footwear). On each episode they mention research that says that humans who didn’t wear footwear had fewer foot problems than our modern shoe-wearing societies. Cody Lundin is the best-selling author of two books on survival and preparedness: 98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive and When All Hell Breaks Loose: Stuff You Need to Survive When Disaster Strikes.
When not teaching for his own school, he is an adjunct faculty member at Yavapai College and a faculty member at the Ecosa Institute. Cody Lundin is the only person in Arizona licensed to catch fish with his hands, and lives in a passive solar earth home sixty miles from Prescott, Arizona.
Cody’s life changed forever when he experienced a transformation in the Red Rock wilderness of Sedona, Arizona. This profound experience with the natural world inspired him to change his life and share Nature with others. He then consciously entered a multi-year journey of hard choices, deprivation and self-correction. If Dual Survival is going to make any ripples at the ocean of so many reality shows then credit will go to Cody who is a hardened survivalist and a former Army sniper lives with Mother Nature by considering it his enemy while he wants to attune with Mother Nature.
Another study found that going barefoot decreased the stress on knee and hip joints for patients with osteoarthritis. I wonder whether that was primarily due to gait changes or due to just not having an extra half pound to a pound of weight on each foot. I will continue to encourage everyone to wear lighter-weight shoes and not attach ankle weights.
Cody Lundin lives in a self-designed, self-reliant, passive solar earth home in the high-desert wilderness of Northern Arizona in which he catches rain, composts wastes, and pays nothing for heating and cooling. Canterbury, a professional hunting guide and tracker, has posted over 300 dual survival instructional videos on the web.
