Libretto W100Toshiba company unveiled a dual-screen laptop named the Toshiba Libretto W100. Libretto W100 is the world’s first dual-screen laptop and featuring a clamshell design with a black metallic finish.

Libretto W100 powered by an Intel Pentium U5400 CPU operating at 1.2 GHz, 2GB  DDR3 RAM, Intel HD graphics, a 62GB solid state disk, 1-megapixel webcam, an 8-cellIntel Pentium U5400life of up to 2 hours with the standard battery and 4 hours with the large, and runs Windows 7 Home Premium, which makes it a fairly powerful laptop. There is also both a USB and microSD card slot on board, so you can add your own media to it and measuring merely 4.84 inches by 7.95 inches when closed, and weighing at 699 grams.

The Toshiba libretto W100 laptop is encased in a black brushed aluminum finish, surrounded with a single USB port, an SD card reader and headphone jack. It also comes with a spacious solid state drive for storing your files, photos, music and video clips as well. The Dual 7 inch (diagonally) multi-touch screens supporting the 1024 x 600 pixels resolution together with a virtual keyboard with haptic, that works vertically or horizontally which is perfect for eBooks, watching movies, music and photos. here is also provided, a “soft” track-pad, which even enables the user to type, click, or browse, whatever the user wants and drag-and-drop applications between screens with ease and comfort.

There is also an accelerometer, allowing you to turn the Toshiba W100 sideways for reading eBooks, viewing photos, or performing other tasks. There is also both a USB and microSD card slot on board, so you can add your own media to it and will be providing wireless capabilities ranging from connectivity to Wi-Fi 802.11n hotspots, to the Bluetooth v2.1 and webcam.

Toshiba has added a few optimizations, for instance, next to the minimize and close boxes on every window is a new tool that lets you snap the window to one screen or the other, or maximize a window across both displays. The option of two screens means that you can work on a document on one while checking your emails in another, or check your social networks in one screen and play games in the other.

The Toshiba Libretto W100 is to be available in stores from August, 2010 and would apparantly have a price tag of $ 1,099, or about € 830 at current exchange rates.
