Toshiba has release the world’s lightest notebook, The Toshiba Portege R700. The Portege R700 is an amazingly slim 13.3-inch laptop set to be powered by a choice of Intel Core i3 and Intel Core i5 processors. Toshiba has managed to chuck in Intel’s latest Core ‘i’ processors, making the laptop one of the most powerful for its size.
The R700 has a configuration Intel Core processors, including dual-core variants of the Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, and Core i7 and support up to 8GB of RAM. The integrated Intel HD graphics has the 13.3-inch HD LED-backlit screen (1366 x 768 pixel resolution) all to itself. Putting a full voltage processor in such a thin and light frame really is a neat trick, one that Toshiba accomplished in part with something they’re calling Airflow Cooling Technology. Airflow Cooling Technology is innovative new cooling system co-developed by Toshiba and Intel uses directed streams of fresh air to cool the heat-generating components so business users can get the performance, mobility and longer battery life they need to stay productive on this Notebook.
Toshiba R700 also has an HDD or SSD, an optional DVD drive and, predictably, up to 500GB of ASUS web storage, 802/11 b/g/n WiFi, two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, RGB, ExpressCard,optional 3G, Bluetooth 2.1, a multi-card reader, a DVD drive and a six-cell battery that should give up to 8.5 hours of use; although an optional 9-cell battery can kick that all the way up to 12.5 hours. it will also be with Intel Wireless Display for connecting to a big-screen HDTV without cables. its lightest configuration it weighs in at just 1.3kg, which is lighter than many laptops. It’s thin too, at just 17mm at its thinnest point, 26mm at the thickest.
The Portege R700 notebook delivers thin-and-light durability from the inside out, starting with an exquisitely crafted magnesium casing concealing an inventive, ultra-resilient honeycomb rib structure. this laptops will come in standard black or navy blue. The Toshiba Portege R700, with a Core i3 processor and a 500GB hard drive, will start at $999. A Core i7, 128GB SSD, and 4GB of RAM configuration will go for $1,599.
